On September 10th of 2008, Alison Coates Clement held her precious baby boy as he took his last breath after a long hard fought battle against an aggressive form of brain cancer. Brendon Scott Coates was only 5 when he earned his angel wings. He never got a chance to attend his first day of kindergarten, something he talked about with great excitement for quite some time. On that terrible day in September, as his mother Alison and his stepfather Tony sat with Brendon at the funeral home so that he would not have to be alone (even in death), they decided to create The Brendon Scott Coates Foundation.
The mission of the BSC Foundation is to provide an improved quality of life for children courageously battling pediatric cancer. We accomplish this mission through generous donations and fundraising events. Whether it is as simple as finding that one favorite toy or funding an entire family trip, The Foundation's goal is clear: To provide families with resources to make lasting memories that will hopefully bring times of happiness throughout their struggles with cancer.
The CEO of the BSC Foundation is of course Brendon Scott Coates who oversees the Foundation’s work from his place in heaven. The President is his mother Alison Coates Clement and the Vice-President is his stepfather Anthony Clement. His Aunt Erin is the web designer/administrator.
In memory of Brendon, The Foundation website hopes to help as many families as possible through emotional and educational support. The website was designed to share Brendon’s story, increase awareness and facilitate the raising of funds in order to help The Brendon Scott Coates Foundation accomplish its mission. It is also a place to showcase the BSC Kids who have been helped by The Foundation and to see how others have been inspired to help in the fight against childhood cancer in memory of Brendon.
The Brendon Scott Coates Foundation, the family and friends who miss Brendon with every waking moment, want to thank you all for your support. After hearing of Brendon’s story we ask that you help us by sharing it with someone else…and to hug your children a little tighter each and every day. God Bless you all.
